What is Presenteeism?

Presenteeism is being present without being productive: working while ill, staying late to be seen, or attending the office to satisfy a mandate rather than to do anything the office is good for. It is the mirror image of absenteeism and harder to spot.

Hybrid debates gave it a new edge: attendance mandates measured purely in badge swipes reward presence, not contribution. The healthier measures pair attendance data with what people actually do on site, which is an argument for measuring office use honestly rather than theatrically.
