Work Health and Safety, or WHS, is the Australian regulatory framework governing workplace safety. It places a primary duty of care on the person conducting a business or undertaking, extending to workers, contractors and other people at the workplace such as visitors.
Most Australian jurisdictions have adopted the model WHS laws, though not identically, and Victoria operates its own occupational health and safety framework. Organisations with sites in several states should confirm what applies to each.
