A visitor badge identifies someone as a guest rather than an employee, usually for a single day. Most carry a name, the host, the date and sometimes a photo. The point is not decoration. A badge makes it obvious at a glance who has signed in and who has walked past reception.
Badges are printed on arrival from a visitor management system, or issued digitally to a phone. Printed badges suit sites where a physical check matters, such as manufacturing or healthcare. Digital passes suit offices where the badge only needs to exist for the walk to a meeting room.
Expiry is the detail people miss. A badge with no date can be reused, which quietly defeats the visitor log. Time-limited or self-voiding badges avoid that.
