What is SWMS (Safe Work Method Statement)?

A Safe Work Method Statement, usually shortened to SWMS, is required in Australia for high-risk construction work. It identifies the hazards, the control measures and how they will be monitored.

It sits within the broader work health and safety framework and must be available on site while the work is being carried out, which is why many Australian sites attach it to the contractor record at sign-in.
