What is Smart Parking?

Smart parking uses technology, typically booking software plus sensors or ANPR cameras, to allocate, monitor and enforce parking spaces instead of first-come, first-served queues and paper permits. In cities the term covers public schemes; at the workplace it means running the office car park on data.

A smart office car park lets staff book a bay before they commute, releases bays automatically when a booking is not used, shares fixed permits on days the holder is elsewhere, and shows facilities teams true occupancy rather than guesswork. The payoff is fewer complaints, fewer wasted bays and a defensible answer when someone asks whether the car park is actually full.
