What is Slack?

Slack is channel-based team messaging: conversations organised into channels rather than inboxes, with apps and automations woven in. Owned by Salesforce, it remains the default chat tool in many tech-leaning organisations, competing with Microsoft Teams.

In hybrid operations, chat is where coordination actually happens: “who is in tomorrow?” is asked in Slack, not in a facilities portal. Workplace tools earn adoption by answering there, through integrations and notifications, instead of demanding another destination.
