PropTech, short for property technology, is the category of software and hardware used to buy, run, measure and let real estate. It spans investment and lease platforms at one end and the day to day workplace tools at the other: desk and room booking, visitor management, parking, sensors and analytics.
The part that matters to a workplace or facilities team is the operational end. A booking platform is PropTech because it produces the occupancy record that tells you whether a floor is earning its rent. That record is what turns a property conversation from opinion into evidence, and it is the reason space decisions increasingly start with the workplace system rather than the lease.
