Generative AI is the family of models that produce new content: text, images, code, audio or summaries, rather than only classifying or ranking what already exists. Large language models are its best-known members, and tools built on them now sit inside most office software.
For workplace teams the practical uses are unglamorous and real: summarising utilisation reports, drafting policies, answering “how do I book a visitor” questions, and turning natural-language requests into actions in booking systems. The caution is equally practical: generative models can state wrong things fluently, so outputs that drive decisions need a human or a system check.
