ESG stands for environmental, social and governance. It is the framework organisations report against on matters that sit outside the profit and loss: carbon and energy, wellbeing and inclusion, and how the organisation is run and held to account. For property teams it usually arrives as a reporting obligation with a deadline attached.
The workplace contributes on several fronts. Conditioning space nobody is using wastes energy, so utilisation data feeds the environmental number directly. Commuting and parking behaviour sit there too. Certification schemes such as BREEAM, NABERS and LEED are the formal assessments this reporting often points at.
