To circle back is to return to a topic later: “let’s circle back on budgets next week”. It is corporate speech’s most famous deferral, useful when a discussion genuinely needs more information and notorious when it quietly means never.
The honest version comes with a date and an owner; without them, circled-back topics orbit forever. Meeting hygiene fix: anything circled back goes into the notes with a name and a deadline, or it did not really survive the meeting.
