What happened

What was HotDesk+, and what is it now?

HotDesk+ was a desk booking app launched in 2018 by Chris Burke inside Brickendon Consulting's innovation incubator. It let professional services firms share desks across offices instead of giving every employee a permanent seat.

When hybrid work went mainstream in 2020, desk booking on its own was no longer enough. Firms needed one system for desks, meeting rooms, visitors, parking and the data to right-size their space. So the team rewrote the entire application from the ground up in August 2022 and relaunched it as HybridHero on 13 September 2022.

HybridHero is the same company and the same founder. It is not a takeover. The old product name simply no longer described what the platform does. If you searched for Hot Desk Plus to log in, use the HybridHero sign-in. If you are evaluating desk booking software, start with HybridHero desk booking.

From HotDesk+ to HybridHero

Four years of desk booking, then a bigger job

HotDesk+ solved one problem well: giving people a desk on the days they came in. By 2022 our customers were asking for the rest of the workplace too. Meeting rooms that release themselves when nobody turns up. Visitors who are expected at reception. Parking that matches the desk booking. Reports that show which floors are actually used.

Rather than bolt those onto a four-year-old desk booking app, we rebuilt the platform and gave it a name that fits the job. HotDesk+ customers moved onto HybridHero with the same team behind them, and everything we have shipped since sits on that 2022 foundation.

Built inside Brickendon Consulting's innovation incubator for professional services firms that wanted to share desks across offices.

2020

Hybrid work goes mainstream

Offices reopen part-time. HotDesk+ is updated repeatedly so teams can plan office days, but customers start asking for rooms, visitors and analytics too.

Aug 2022

The app is rewritten from the ground up

A new web application and a new mobile app for iOS and Android, designed for the whole workplace rather than desks alone.

Sep 2022

HotDesk+ becomes HybridHero

The new name is announced to customers on 13 September 2022, with visitor management the first new module to follow.

The questions we hear most from people who knew us under the old name.

Is HotDesk+ the same as HybridHero?

Yes. HotDesk+ is the former name of HybridHero. The same company and founder launched HotDesk+ in 2018 as a desk booking app and renamed it HybridHero in September 2022 after rebuilding the platform to cover meeting rooms, visitors, parking and analytics as well as desks.

Is HotDesk+ still available?

Not under that name. The product lives on as HybridHero, and hotdeskplus.com redirects to hybridhero.com. Everything HotDesk+ did, HybridHero still does, alongside the modules added since 2022.

Where do I log in to Hot Desk Plus now?

Sign in at app2.hybridhero.com with your HybridHero account. If your organisation has not set you up yet, ask your workplace administrator, or contact the Help Center.

Was HotDesk+ acquired by HybridHero?

No. There was no acquisition. HybridHero is HotDesk+ under a new name, with the application rewritten from the ground up in August 2022. Chris Burke, who launched HotDesk+ in 2018, is the Founder and CEO of HybridHero today.

Why did HotDesk+ change its name?

Because the product outgrew the name. HotDesk+ described one feature, desk booking. By 2022 the platform managed meeting rooms, visitors, parking and workplace analytics for hybrid teams, so it needed a name that covered the whole hybrid workplace.
