Resource booking is the reservation of any shared workplace resource: desks, meeting rooms, parking bays, lockers, EV chargers, pool cars or portable equipment. One set of booking rules, permissions and calendars covers everything an employee might need for a day in the office, rather than a separate tool per resource.
The term matters in hybrid offices because attendance varies day to day, so almost everything becomes shared. A resource booking system enforces the rules that make sharing work: booking windows, check-in to release unused reservations, team priorities and caps. It also produces the utilisation data that tells you whether you have too many desks, too few rooms, or a car park that empties every Friday.
