Business continuity is the discipline of keeping an organisation running through disruption: building closures, power failures, severe weather, security incidents or system outages. It combines plans, alternative arrangements and the information needed to act fast.
Workplace systems play two roles. Day to day, they enable the flexible patterns that make sudden remote switches routine rather than crisis. In an incident, live records of who is on site are the starting point for accounting for people. See also emergency mustering.
